Sullivan McLeod is a standup comedian and surfer from Margaret River, WA, who decides to take a crack at the World Qualfiying Series. This is an hilarious story, well-told and sheds more light on the unglamorous realities of the pro surfing world than any surf magazine contest reports I've come across. Sullivan sabotages himself at every turn, drinks himself into a stupour almost everywhere he goes, gets mugged, ripped off, loses stuff, befriends maniacs and makes many insightful observations about the shallow glory seeking of the pro surfing lifestyle. I had never heard of the guy or the book when I stumbled upon it at Coolangatta Airport, and laughed out loud many times while reading it. Good work fella.
