Rabbit Bartholomew and the movie Bustin' Down The Door helped inspired Fremantle to an upset win in their AFL match against Carlton on the Gold Coast last weekend. Fremanlte coach Mark Harvey got his team to watch the movie on the flight over from Perth and then invited Bugs to address the team before the match. "I walked in there, and the whole team had seen the movie on the Qantas in-flight from Perth," Bartholomew said. "It was the day of the game, and I got up there and it was a real challenge for me, I had never done that for a football team. But there was a big white board and every single player had written two lines on the whiteboard about what they had got out of the movie. A lot of them really related to it, young guys going up against the best in the world and going for it fearlessly.'Back your mates up'; 'be fearless', 'take big chances' - it was like a risk and reward thing. I was really touched by it." Midfielder Paul Hasleby said Bartholomew's address had been crucial in firing the team up. "It was a great idea by Mark Harvey to get us all to watch this DVD on the flight over and Rabbit came to talk to us," Hasleby said. "It was about a lot of young kids who really took on the world of pro-surfing in Hawaii, and we got a lot of parallels between us going to the Gold Coast and what happened in the movie. I am always fascinated to hear about different stories and the confidence of people getting the most out of themselves. I could have asked him questions for a lot longer time … it was a great experience and a great coaching move by Mark Harvey." Inspiring stuff. But Bugs, the Dockers play Hawthorn this weekend, so can you please remind them that you actually got beat to a bloody pulp in Hawaii, and plant that idea in their minds? And, Dear God, what happened to your other leg? Click here to check the full story.
