Many of the surfers featured in my book High Surf are pushing the boundaries of how surfing is perceived, in many and varied ways. One of the most interesting is the Musica Surfica project, masterminded by violinist and director of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Richard Tognetti, and ex-pro surfer Derek Hynd. Riding new and ancient finless surfboards, they are marrying truly revolutionary surfing with experimental classical music, and creating a whole new art form in the process. Check this trailer:
